Dr. Carletta Artis has a passion for improving lives. She has found that Professional Life Coaching can be just as effective, if not better than Therapy. In fact, therapy often times focuses on your weaknesses, what’s wrong with you, mental illness, you go on and on about your past and your childhood, and then you get a diagnosis. You may feel better because you talked about your problems but then what? You now want to know what you need to do to make life better right? You don’t want mystery or someone saying, “Interesting.” You want answers! You want someone who will partner with you, come alongside you, help you create the future you want, the life you want, co-write the story and then help you achieve the feeling, the change, the life, the happiness you desire. You are now ready for a Life Coach and I’m excited about what’s next in your life!

Coaching is a therapeutic, personal process between the Life Coach and the Client that focuses on concerns, interests, goals and strategies to move the Client forward in life to achieve his or her goals. Life Coaching is a safe, confidential place for Clients to share their strengths and weaknesses, their dreams and goals, as well as their perceived or real barriers to reaching their goals. A Life Coach monitors the progress of the Client, holds the Client accountable for progress, but helps the Client to deal with resistance or self-sabotaging behavior. Together, the Life Coach and Client, make plans to achieve goals, modify plans, are active partners in the change you want in your life, strengthen the relationships around you as the Life Coach provides unbiased perspectives, compassion, education, empowerment and enrichment.

The Relationship Expert is here! Relationships are my specialty and I look forward to working with you. Relationship Coaching has many of the same components as Life Coaching. Relationship Coaching is for the Single, the Dating, and the Married. If you are Dating or Married, Relationship Coaching can help you and your partner work through individual and couple issues. As your Relationship Coach, one of the first things I will help you with is to discern the you vs. the us. The “you” is a problem that you might be dealing with all by yourself that is affecting the relationship such as work stress, not feeling good enough, feeling like you have to be a certain way, feeling overwhelmed in life, or feeling like you are not fulfilling your dreams-that’s all you. The “us” is a problem with the relationship and how the two of you are handling things such as finances, communication, conflict-management, and intimacy and sex.

Relationship Coaching is good for new or mature couples; I believe every couple should get a couple’s checkup just like their annual physical exam with a medical doctor–to make sure everything is all good! If your significant other or spouse is unwilling, at this time, to take advantage of relationship coaching, I am still more than happy to speak with you or see you by yourself as I can work with you by coaching you to make changes in your relationship. However, many times the significant other or spouse joins us later after seeing changes in you and enjoys the sessions just as much. For example, after working with a wife for 1 or 2 sessions, the husband joined her and after seeing that I remain unbiased and fair, competent about relationships, that my goal is to keep you together and make your relationship stronger, that we have fun, he did more talking that she did and they were stronger because of the experience together.

If you are Single, just out of a relationship or you just started a relationship but feel that you need to work on you, your growth, overcoming past relationship problems or childhood wounds, or understanding why you keep dating the same type of people, this is your time to have a Relationship Coach to help you understand why you do what you do, why you are attracted to the same folks, what vibe are you putting out there and why are certain people attracted to you, how to attract the right people with whom you can have a healthy, fun, loving relationship.

Relationship Coaching is near and dear to my heart because I want to see couples succeed in their relationships. Research has shown that 50% of all marriages in the United States end of divorce. These are some devastating statistics and I refuse to accept this as the normal. What I hear is 50% of all marriages in the United States SUCCEED and can THRIVE and are doing something right! I don’t know about you, but I want to be among those who are succeeding! Therefore, I took another look at the research to focus on what works, what are the 50% doing right, and what is this healthy relationship movement mean for couples and those who are single but wanting to be in a healthy relationship and marriage.

Justin Timberlake said he’s bringing sexy back; well, I’m bringing marriage back. It has become such an ugly word that many are afraid to speak of as many women have given up and men literally run away from it. Marriage is a good thing! Research has shown that children who grow up in a two-parent home do better overall in school, at home and in life. Married women in healthy relationships are happier and have better mental health. Married men in healthy relationships are happier and have less health issues. Married couples and a good marriage are the foundation of our nation. A good marriage can produce healthy individuals, roles models for young men and young women, mature mentors for new couples, strong families, and, I believe, a better world.

A Career Coach can help individuals find the passion they have lost in their chosen careers or find the courage to move into a new career. The entire process – from exploring possibilities, to the moment of discovery and finally, implementing the plan – is very rewarding.

The Career Coach will:

  • Try to find out your life/work values, your purpose in life and identify careers which are aligned with this. The closer your job is to these critical values, the happier and more satisfied you will feel.
  • Help you recognize what jobs you are suited for based on your talents, education, personality and ambition. These can be detected through general discussion, testing and probing questions. The best coaches are very honest and will tell you what you can aspire to and what your limitations are likely to be.
  • Assist you to clarify your long term career goals and assist you to create an action plan to achieve them. This can take several sessions to complete.
  • Structure your job search, help with your application documents as well as coach you to present well in job interviews.

What specialized tools does a Career Coach provide that may help me?

Career Coaches are likely to utilize a Specialized Interview, Computer-based assessments or other tools that can classify your personality style, values, ideal career options and/or work strengths and weaknesses.

How many times do I need to see a Career Coach?

On average clients attend 4-5 sessions but some find an ongoing coaching relationship is extremely valuable and desire to continue training with their coach for up to several years to continue working collaboratively on motivation, organization, communication with coworkers, conflict-resolution, and relationships in the workplace, goal setting and promotion preparation, and more.

What results can you expect from good career coaching?

After receiving coaching, you should have one or more of these outcomes:

  1. Enhanced self-awareness and direction
  2. Clarity of career and job-search goals
  3. Increased career management skills
  4. Overall improvement of your quality of life

Should I see a Career Coach?

The determining question here is: Are you unemployed, laid off, transitioning from the military, or graduating from high school or college? Do you know what you want to do and how to get there? If you are unsure about what career direction to take or what changes to make and how to get there, then call me and I will help you with your journey to find your passion and love what you do!
